Ok, maybe I'm behind the ball on this but I had no idea something like this existed. What can I say, I worry sometimes about just what our world has come too. I just saw a clip of this on the local news since apparently Baltimore now has a team. Y-I-P-E-E!!
Does anyone actually take this serious? My thought is that these women were too ugly to be strippers so they decided to join the Lingerie Football League? Being a football fan myself I can't believe this is actually a "league". All I can picture are a bunch of dirty men with inappropriate thoughts gawking at these "players".
Funniest thing being that the news was trying to pretend that it was an actual sport, that this is "really full contact and they actually tackle". GASP, you mean they actually pretend to play football. I'm impressed...really. In no way, shape or form would this qualify as a real sport. It's pretty hard to take seriously when all they wear are a bra and undies...and some pads.
But, according to the glorified news report, these are "real athletes".

I know this is an unpopular belief, but I sort of don't consider American football to be all that much of a sport anyway...add in some lingerie and really, this is just tasteless folly. I just want to see when they make a league of scantily clad men doing this crap...or do men not need to demean themselves that way being "real athletes" and all? Oy!
ReplyDeleteI do believe that football is a sport just like many other things (lacrosse, basketball, baseball, etc.) but no matter what your beliefs are I find it hard to believe you could realistically call this a "sport".
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of females who are "real athletes" and wildly talented, I just find it insane that the news was trying to call these wonderful women athletes!
Oy! Sums it up pretty well.
Maybe this makes me a freak but I really don't mind that much. I was surprised that the girls were wearing as much as they were. I thought they would literally be wearing lingerie and playing an extreme girly version of flag football. I don't think that I would put them next to the standards of professional football players however if they are ACTUALLY playing and following the same rules as a professional league then I would say they can be called athletes ( I saw this in the loosest terms). Hell, high school football players that extremely suck can be called athletes as well as a lot of other sports that are on the "is this really a sport?" line.
