Well it's that time of year again (already!). Time to look back at the past years goals and see how I've managed. Looking back I've done pretty well. Not perfect but not horrible either. Out of 8 goals only 2 were complete failures so I'll count that as a win!
Here's the rundown:
1) Exercise 3x a week - Once I was able to finally get started I did quite well with this. August I didn't "exercise" much but we were on vacation all month and did lots and lots of walking, 98% of the time I had my 25 pound daughter strapped to me. While I did not exercise in the traditional sense I was very active. October was the other month were I struggled. There were 2 weeks I did nothing but the rest of the month I was fine. This goal was a beaming success!
2) Read a book a month - This was also a big success. In general I finished a book every month. It comes in spurts so it may take 5 weeks to finish 1 book but then I'll turn around and read 3 in a month. This past year I have read 21 books and am halfway through another. Next year I guess I better up my reading goal!
3) Physically volunteer 3 times - Major FAIL! I have done nothing. I researched and had decided where to do it but then never actually went. Kinda sad but maybe when both kids get into school and I have some "me" time I will be able to make it happen. I have done a lot of donating, clothes, books, etc. I also have a box all ready to be dropped off at a local shelter so at least I'm not a complete slug.
4) Run an actual 5K - Finally, victory is mine on this one! I ran my first 5K in May and then I did another 5K just a few weeks ago and did very well. Most of all I enjoy the fact that I am able to just sign up for one on a whim and know that I can do it.
5) Get back into photography - Again, major FAIL. I have done absolutely no photography for fun! Actually I have slacked all around with the picture taking. I really want to get back into this because I love it, hopefully moving to Hawaii will help me do that.
6) Spend less time on the computer - I have done pretty well with this overall. Again, this kind of cycles so I'll do great for a while and then fall back a bit but in general it's been a positive change.
7) Continue preparing many foods from scratch and piling on the veggies - This has been half and half. We will do great for a couple months and then horrible for a month, then back to being good. This cycle has continued all year long. Sometimes the break came for a reason (ie. moving, vacation), other times we just fell off the wagon. The past 2 months have been particularly awful and I can honestly say we are all ready for a reset!
8) Make the switch to cloth napkins - Success again. I was able to find some napkins for 70% off after the holidays last year so I stocked up. The majority of the time we use those and I do not purchase paper napkins anymore (except maybe for a party). The DH is still the king of paper towel use however. Overall though, our use of paper products has drastically declined.
So you can see the areas that I failed in but 6 out of 8 isn't bad! This is not to say there isn't room for improvement but there have been many positive changes over the past 12 months. I am planning on doing another goal list for 2012 but I doubt I'll have it together by tomorrow. This year I haven't been thinking about it much so I don't have a ready made list.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Years and here's to 2012!
