Things I Love...

So inspired by this post by Alexis at The Well Read Mom and my most recently finished book called The Happiness Project I decided to also post a list of things I am currently loving.  This is a pretty random list but that's what happens when I write what pops in my head at any given time.  Anyway here goes!

  • My husband (corny I know but so true).
  • That my son almost always tells me he loves me first when I tuck him into bed.
  • That my parents will be coming to visit in 5 short days!  I got spoiled living close to them for the past 3 years so it's been a change not seeing them for almost 2 months.
  •                                                                   THIS:
  • But more generally the fact that a) she took the time to make (and mail) me a CD with all the pictures that she has taken during her past couple visits and b) that I have such a great relationship with my MIL.  Many people don't.
  • Fall!  I love the fall and all the apple picking and pumpkin-y treats, not to mention Halloween.  There is little cuter than your kids all decked out in their costumes.
  • That I get to enjoy some much appreciated alone time with my daughter now that my son is in school everyday.  It's so nice to be able to finally take her to do something just for her!
  • The fact that I was actually able to go to the gym last night (thanks to a trainer AND soccer being cancelled last night, talk about the stars aligning) for some much needed strength training.  It felt so good to finally give my muscles a good workout.  I've been exercising in the form of running, so I've been keeping fit that way but I haven't done anything focused on strength since I broke my arm last summer.  I really had forgotten how much I liked attending classes at the gym.
  • How polar opposite my 2 kids really are.  The list is never-ending but I thought I would share a few examples.

He is super cautious and she is Evel Knievel level of dare devil.
He has never been good with the whole sleeping phenomenon, she happens to enjoy her sleep.
I had to make him put milk in his cereal, she refuses to eat it without.
She loves her utensils, it took him a long time to accept them.
She loves to dip!  He has never dipped anything (including chicken nuggets).
She is much more althletic, he's more analytical.
He loves mustard, she loves ketchup.
He hates being dirty, she is never clean.
The list really can go on and on but I think that's a good sampling.

  •  How incredibly cute my daughter looks in her leotard!  Or as she now calls it a q-tard!
  • The master to-do list that I created with everything on it that I hope to accomplish.  I wrote down everything I could think of regardless of how big the project is.  I am loving it because it is an ongoing list and it reminds me of all the things I have been wanting to do.  The best thing about this list is it gives me a starting place.  I am the kind of person who has 300 things running through my head but when I get an hour I am almost paralyzed because I don't know where to begin.  This means I spend the entire hour trying to figure out what to do but never actually doing anything!  This has been a huge source of frustration for me but I think I finally found a solution!  On a side note, these are more major tasks.  Doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom are not on this list.  These are things like tackle the garage, organize digital photos, etc.

That sums up all the things currently running through my head.  I have been trying to be more patient, less resentful, and let the little things go lately.  It's been tough at times but I can honestly say that I have had a fabulous week.  This will constantly be a work in progress but life is so much better when I'm happy!
