Tuesdays Tip

Want to prevent those freshly cooked noodles from sticking?

Mix in a bit of olive oil (or butter) after straining and give them a good stir.  Those noodles aren't stickin' on my watch!

***I also wanted to share what fellow reader Sarah commented.  She stated that if you are making traditional spaghetti mix in a bit of the spaghetti sauce to prevent sticking, if you use oil (or butter) the spaghetti sauce will just slide off the spaghetti!***

A big thanks goes out to Sarah for sharing her tip with us!!
Anyone else have any tips to share please comment or send me an email, I will gladly post it here.

  1. If you are cooking noodles for spagetti sauce, mix in a bit of the sauce into the noodles to prevent sticking. If you use oil or butter to prevent sticking, then add the spaghetti sauce, the sauce will slide of the noodles and not adhere properly.

  2. You go girl! Great thing to add to today's tip! I haven't really noticed a problem but I use hardly any oil either and it mainly gets soaked up but I see how this can cause problems!

  3. Most of my tips, I've learned from the food network. I will happily share what little knowledge I have. Keep the posts coming!

  4. I find the olive oil method is the only way to keep our fresh pasta from becoming a "spaghetti cake" though I will try the sauce thing too. I like "Tuesday's Tip"!

  5. Sarah I am the same way, many of my tips I have seen either there or heard somewhere else. The others I just learned through mistakes and how I ended up fixing it, but hey isn't that how we all gain knowledge?!

Alexis I can imagine that fresh pasta may be even worse although most of the time I end up overcooking pasta (probably has something to do with 2 children tugging on my pant leg but I digress) so it tends to really want to stick if I don't do something.

I'm glad you enjoy Tuesday's Tip! I'm trying to think of more things to add, one idea I had was Thursday's Thought which would essentially be a free for all, me rambling about a thought I had or something I heard, etc. Pretty much a time for discussion. Let me know what you thing or if there is anything else you'd like to see. I'm trying to make this more interesting, not to mention getting better about posting!
