12 Things to Do with Baby Food Containers/Jars

  1. Use them to hold paint or glue for art/craft projects.
  2. Organize beads, they seal pretty well so even when knocked over you won't have a thousand seed beads all over the floor!
  3. Organize any other small things like buttons, paper clips and screws.
  4. Put spices in them.  If you make your own or buy spices in larger containers/bags these can be a great container to store them in and put with your other spices.
  5. Make little rattles or maracas.  Run a bead of hot glue around the top after putting a few beans in and you have a, basically free, baby toy!  Please remember to supervise while using.
  6. Do a science experiment with your kids and plant some seeds or grass in them.
  7. Use them as a pacifier holder on the go.  Most brands will fit in there and since you already have them around they are much cheaper then the fancy pacifier pods sold in the stores.
  8. Pre-measure ingredient for your recipe and use these instead of buying those little glass bowls.
  9. A snack container.  Use these instead of ziplocks to store things like Cheerios, goldfish and cheese.
  10. A votive holder.  Use the glass ones either plain or decorated to hold tealights or votive candles.
  11. Store seeds in.  Did you collect any seeds from your garden and now wonder where to store them?  Just label and date the containers and fill with seeds.
  12. Numerous craft projects out there that use baby food jars; snow globes, teacher appreciation gifts, shower favors.  The list is endless!
I tend to prefer the plastic ones for fear of breaking the glass ones (and the fact that they are basically tupperware and who doesn't like that?) but for some things glass is better.  With a handful around the house from my daughter I have been putting them to good use!
