I just wanted to apologize for my lack of posting this week. Seriously this week came and went with a blur. I actually have done a TON of stuff in the kitchen I just haven't taken any pictures or posted any of the recipes I tried though.
I have actually been getting things prepared for a small craft show happening tomorrow at a local high school. A good friend of mine had already gotten a table to sell some jewelry and as an after though I asked her if she would mind sharing a table thinking I could try selling some of this jam I had been making. I am not really anticipating making a ton of money but it's really no harm done since I had most of the jam already made. It's also a great excuse to get away from the kids for a bit and hang out with a dear friend! Should be fun regardless but money is a bonus.
I did make some banana jam and some apple jam/butter this week to add to my pile so next week I will post the a link to the recipes. The banana jam is quite good and super easy. I don't even like bananas and I liked it, not to mention it uses no pectin and is almost fool proof! The apple I haven't tried yet and I really didn't follow the recipe but I'll post a link for that too. It looks good and smelled delicious.
On another note, I made some more of the banana bread that I posted the recipe for. I just wanted to make a note on here that while the last batch tasted fine with no sugar this batch was a bit bland. I guess it really depends on the actual banana, if there nice and ripe it will be fine but if not it won't. I think from now on I will be adding 1/4 cup sugar just to keep things more consistent and frankly 1/4 cup sugar in an entire loaf of bread really isn't that much! Sorry if anyone has tried it and it came out quite bland. You could also try adding honey or agave nectar if you wanted a natural sweetener, haven't tried that though so I can't testify as to how it will turn out. If anyone does try it, however, let me know how it goes!
I plan to be back next week with the links for those recipes and also another attempt at bread making (after a brief hiatus). Anyone know any good bread recipes??
